That is what AirAsia X offers on its A330s with its Premium Flatbed.
The spacious seat reclines to become a full flatbed when required and also features a privacy screen, an adjustable head and foot-rest, as well as a pillow and duvet for maximum comfort.
Plus, there is a universal power port.
All this on a low, low, cost airline!
And the features don’t end there.
Passengers in Premium get 40kg of checked baggage for free and complimentary meals and non-alcoholic drinks and snacks.
There is also free seat – or bed – selection.
The premium seats are set in a 2-2-2 configuration in the first two rows of the A330.
If you are flying Premium there is also unlimited flight changes up to 2 hours before your original departure time, and 4 hours before your new departure time, subject to fare difference.
And there is a dedicated check-in counter and priority boarding.
In KL you can also use the AirAsia Premium Red Lounge before departure.
Inflight Premium passengers can also enjoy free access to the Xcite Inflight Entertainment which features hours of movies, TV series, music, and games.
But this is not like other airline’s business class. You will not be offered champagne as you board or a hot towel.
What you’re paying for is a premium flatbed – a huge, comfy chair that transforms into a neat bed.
And you will have a lot more money in your wallet.
Also, the meals are the same as economy but served first and free.
Also, the flatbed isn’t quite 180 degrees and your head is going to be a bit higher than your feet however that is way, way better than an economy seat.
All in all, a superb product for the price.
