Interesting comments on airline profitability, you are absolutely correct. It seems the populist media and lobby groups all jump on the bandwagon whenever any company makes a profit, whether it be airline, bank, mining company or anything else. Some people seem to forget that if companies do not make good profits they simply do not continue, forget about reinvesting for better service or product and future development. No profit, no good for anyone…automotive industry in Australia for example. I am more than happy to see all these companies make great profits, competition will determine whether we get any benefit from it, but it is better than the alternative…besides, it’s great for my super.
