When recently on a Air New Zealand from Auckland to Perth, my husband & I were seated in the middle in economy class. On the starboard side was a women with her 3 children; aged approx 12,7 & 18 months. The 18 month old was seated on her mothers lap for the 7.5 hrs flight back to Perth. They must have purchased ” seat only” tickets, as they were not given any meals or drinks. Consequently the 18 mth old screamed, & screamed & screamed for 5 hrs of the flight. Her mother must have not bought any snacks with her for the duration of the flight. She made no effort to console the child, & was only interested in watching the inflight movies. Every time a meal came round the child was indicating she wanted some thing to eat & drink. She was given water by the cabin crew.
For all you people who are reading this,be it passengers or travel agents; please use some common sense & bring a snack on board or tell the travelers to do so. The rest of the passengers could not hear their movies or sleep due to this screaming child. We had paid the full fare for our trip, & were entitled to a comfortable flight, as were other passengers
