In regards to overweight passengers on commercial flights. The offshore industry passengers & luggage are weighed prior to boarding the helicopter to go to the rig & also on the return flight. If the weight is calculated as to being over the ‘payload’ for the chopper flight, passengers are bumped to the next flight or their luggage bumped to the next flight. This also applies to the Fi/FO flights going to a mine site & the same on return journey home. You are only allowed a maximum of 10kg of hand baggage or even less. Anything extra often comes up by road.
