Perth airport, both domestically and international are something that, as Perthians we should be ashamed of. The new buildings do nothing to make this airport, that seems cartoonesc and fully third world country look any better, delay at customs is as bad as ever. What will tourist think when this is their first confrontation with our beautiful city ? I fly a lot and to many international places but so far only find Kathmandu worse.
I also live in Perth 8 km from the airport but suffer from 120 planes per day as the most densely populated suburbs are overflown. This s is mainly because of Fly In Fly Out planes, but also because airlines like Virgin and Network Aviation add more and more old aircraft (Fokker F-100) to their fleet, replacing less intrusive turboprops. These F-100 are overv20 years old ! Then there is the new type of aircraft, speak the A-380 that visits Perth every day and makes houses on the ground shake on their foundation.
Perth airport has the worst of all possibilities: in general an ever aging fleet of aircraft, and the new types fly at 10:45 pm over the most dense suburbs, creating havoc in Perths suburbs.
Back to the past is what springs to mind. And we were promised improvement. Perth airport is hell, be it as passenger or resident in f the city.
I realise that speaking with an open hart is not appreciated and that this posting will be censored away.
    Thanks.

We don't censor much to be fair so vent away. As far as I know no new Fokkers have been purchased, the A380 is quieter than older twin engine planes like the B767 and with regards to the noise of over flying aircraft people do know the airport is close by when they purchase a property so really they cannot complain as there's plenty of suburbs further from the airport and the airport location has not changed nor has it expanded. Customs a disaster? yes!
