Virgin food is NOT complimentary if you can’t eat it. QANTAS provides gluten free food and plenty of it. Virgin doesn’t. Hosties are rude, ignorant and just shrug their shoulders when I ask them if it is gluten free. They answer I don’t know. Surely as a health condition Virgin must inform their staff to keep abreast of medical conditions. I usually answer that vomiting and diarrhea at 35 000 feet is not a good thing and that I will not eat so as not to subject passengers to distasteful conditions.. Subway does a gluten free salad at the airport which I prefer to buy and eat as I travel from Perth to Sydney, Melbourne or Bali or I travel with QANTAS. Other airlines can deal with food allergies and choices. Why can’t Virgin? I have been speaking to management (via emai)l and staff on Virgin planes for over 5 years but to no avail.
FALSE ADVERTISING when you can’t eat the food.

We are following up on this now with the airline and will get back to you. Virgin only offer meals for dietary requirements on their international flight, you can however choose dietary specific snacks from their buy on board menu. Basically if you have strict dietary requirements then yes you need to travel Qantas.
