Have Your Say

I would like to know how it is possible that a flight can be cancelled due to insufficient crew numbers? What poor management is behind this or is it another example of economic rationalistic when the passengers are treated simply as $$.
Jetstar recently cancelled our flight to Bali with the timing of this announcement made at the same time the flight was due to depart, as what seemed was a full load of passengers was expecting to board. This was bad enough but to rub salt into the wound, the next Jetstar flight to Bali took off as scheduled, just an hour later!!! This was a once in lifetime opportunity (due to some special circumstances) that my family could take this holiday, which is now in tatters.
I have since heard that this is a (semi) regular operational procedure for Jetstar – is this correct? How can they accept passengers money in good faith, only to treat them in this manner?

Airlines don't have crew hubs in every airport. For Tiger and Jetstar this is an issue if there is a problem with a Perth based flight. As crew can only operate so many hours - if there is going to be a delay you will find the aircraft often goes back to Melbourne because they can at least get more crew there otherwise they have to wait the mandatory rest period turn around in Perth.
