On a recent SilkAir flight, I read in their inflight magazine that they were in the process of converting their fleet from A320 to B737 aircraft, allowing them to introduce new routes due to the Boeing’s longer range.
Googling the Airbus and Boeing websites shows that the A320 beats the B737 with published ranges of 3,300nm and 3,115nm respectively.
    What gives?

Range is a tricky thing. What matters is range with a full payload of passengers and bags and that is where the 737 is in front and can give a longer range with a full aircraft
