Have Your Say

Can you say something about the independence of your ratings? You are cited in various non-Australian media with some confidence, but I notice that in Britain, reports emphasized the fact that you are an Australian website and (allegedly) biased in favour of Qantas. I assume that you claim to be independent and unbiased, but can you offer readers any evidence of this?

You only have to look at Qantas' safety record and implementation of technology in the cockpit to see how truly deserving they are of titles such as world's safest airline. The awful accident of QF32 out of Singapore is probably the best example of Qantas' safety to date - that incident in the hands of MANY airlines would have resulted in a crash. If we didn't have people questioning our ratings that would be odd - as a culture we always question things - it's normal and shows our true reach that we are being discussed in both positive and negative light. In addition to this at the bottom of the site we have our transparent safety and product ratings explained so there is never any need to question bias - the rating system is there for all to understand and use. The audience also need to understand that we do a lot of geo-targeting so what people see in one country they may not see in another in terms of social media and advertising - this can perhaps make us look bias but it's just ensuring our advertisers product is applicable to the audience. No point showing adverts for Ukraine International in New Zealand. The actual airlineratings staff group is global - only three are actually in Australia, the rest are around the world. I hope that helps answer your questions.
