Economy and Business Class

  • Operates in a two class configuration on both A320s and A319s
  • Full meal and beverage service in Economy; restaurant quality meals and beverages in Business Class; welcome drink offered
  • Shared cabin screens show silent films or passengers can stream tv shows and music to their personal laptops and handheld devices throughout the flight using the onboard Wi-Fi. Business Class Passengers on flights over two hours will be offered tablets with pre-loaded content
  • Seat pitch of 32 inch with standard recline in Economy; seat pitch of 40 inch with greater recline in Business Class in 2-2 layout
  • Newspapers and short stories offered

History

  • Started in the mid 1970s and has become one of Asia Pacific's leading regional carriers
  • Tradewinds Pte Ltd as it was originally called was formed as the tours and travel arm of Singapore Airlines in 1975
  • Exclusively marketed by Singapore Airlines holiday packages in the early 1980s
  • Tradewinds, the airline, was unveiled on February 21st 1989 catering to passengers holidaying in the region
  • Regional business destinations were added and on April 1st 1992 Tradewinds was renamed SilkAir
  • This change marked the carrier's evolution from a holiday resort airline to a full-fledged regional carrier
  • Currently operates over 300 flights a week from Singapore to more than 40 destinations in 11 countries all within a 5 hour radius of Singapore
